(Insert Title) Life, what is this existence? From what I gather from my surroundings, life is the prospective of a complex chemical reaction. My life is the prospective of a two legged animal, named Garrett. Now before examining the question of what I should do being this animal I examine my surroundings. My life takes place in a country called Canada. This nation has had a rather pleasant history in comparison to many other nations. It is located in the northern hemisphere alongside the most powerful country on this planet. This has given Canada, security, intimidation, and wealth. I look around me, and I see fellow citizens. With very little concern for the future, favouring essentially selfish goals, this communal selfishness is unlikely to pay off for the individual. This citizen also has very little interest in the real world, and is often more concerned with the conclusion of ‘Friends’ then perhaps the reasons why the most powerful nation, invaded one of the most weak but energy rich nations in the Middle East; for reasons which were later found to be false. Perhaps these observations are just an example of my fellow youth’s ignorance? But then upon observation I find my more experienced citizen as equally ill informed. Historical knowledge appears to begin at World War 1, and subtly, events after World War II become foggy in their memory. I have no explanation for this phenomena; I was not even a fetus when these individuals were educated. My 18 years of experience has little to offer me to explain why people who have absorbed twice as much experience, have concluded that neglecting politics is a positive lifestyle. Perhaps it is a result of the adult educator, the media? Wouldn’t it be entertaining if someone would study Western media; what are you more likely to see in 15 minutes? A celebrity affair, let's say Brad Pitt is cheating on Jennifer Aniston. Or John Ashcroft refuses to release a memo which has stated that the use of torture in the Iraq war is a-okay? This is not a characteristic of simply American society it spans into almost all of Canadian society. Canadian Theatre is as obsolete as the Segway, (you remember that piece of shit transporter of humans, the first place you'd be going if you got one would be the bank because that is an expensive piece of shit. How about not shooting yourself in the foot with a $4300 dollar substitute for legs? Lesson one, how to reduce cost; a third wheel, jackass...) who even watches ‘Train 48’? The only shows worth watching that came from Canada are the Tom Green show, and Reboot. When I watch the news I want to see someone showing decent cleavage while they tell me about Michael Jackson going to jail; not some old fuck all-purpose anchormen from Global news. American TV kicks ass, and we love it, and we love loving it; so much so, that we don’t even find it outrageous that the last samurai was some white American, or that the submarine that snagged the enigma from the Germans making a huge contribution to the war was manned by American's, this scenario is likely disgracing the British lives lost in that operation, but wasn’t it awesome when the torpedoes nail the American sub and they had a hijack the German one? (U-571) To be honest my personal favourite is Independence Day; telepathic big aliens with force fields come from space to kill us all, our last hope is Will Smith and the guy from Jurassic Park, the climatic finale is a single nuke shot at the giant mother ship by an modified alien ship; and the world was saved thanks to American power. Now the average Canadian doesn't think about that fact; they probably think “Holy Fuck! Cigars are fucking awesome” And now something completely different. Who should be the dominant nation? Some rocking runners-up are wonderful, strong communist regimes such as China. But having a country with such a poor civil right record being the dominant nation makes me very uneasy, and if that situation ever were to come to pass; my pants would become more moist. France has ambition, but no chance. The United State’s power rides a top and ignorant publics election; and the nation being the world's policeman, has an unstable motivation. Iraq not applying to the universal excuse as the cold war provided, shows us that world stability is not so stable in one nation's hands. As soon as the transition of power occurs from one world power to another, as was the case at the beginning of both World Wars; the United States is not likely to relent its position without conflict. This has been demonstrated during the Cuban missile crisis; the United States was willing to wage nuclear war to maintain domination of the world. (Probably at the cost of much of the inhabitants of the northern hemisphere) the only reason why nuclear war did not occur in this situation, is because a Russian submarine Cdr refused to follow orders and launch a nuclear strike while under attack by American frigates. This scenario would almost certainly resulted in the destruction of Canada; after all, most of the Soviet bombers flyover Canada to get Uncle Sam, and shooting down a plane full of radioactive material and having it crash on Canadian soil is awesome to watch, the only downer is when everything around that crater dies from radioactive contamination. And now Canada's future, it has no future if it remains a welfare state. Fuck poor people, get a job, the future world of Globalization and free trade will turn this world into a zoo without cages and only the strongest animals will survive. If we remain a welfare state with few national companies all we can offer the world is a cheaper labour market than the United States and a temporary supply of half frozen raw resources. As I speak Canada's most national of companies is being consumed by an American company called Coors. The loss of national companies takes executive jobs and other high-paying employment ventures with those companies, and excludes Canada from cutting edge development. If we continued this course we will strain our economy with taxes. A drastic cut back and elimination of social services excluding healthcare, education, policing, resource-defense and employment opportunities is necessary if our nation is to be meaningful in the future. (list will likely change when more research is done…) No military, why? You can't get new toys until you save up your money. I have briefly observed my surroundings, 18 years of life and 4 years of political awareness. I have been instructed by many individuals around me that the world is far too large and we are too small, this response is based on a sense of futile existence, from what I gather it is due to a lack of ambition and self-esteem. There is a truth to it, I will not be the hand that feeds the hungry, or the order that stops a war, but if I don’t try I am as guilty as the individual bringing that suffering. Much of today’s youth has adopted the media’s ideals as seen most obviously in many hip-hop videos, the moral of the 4 minute song is: consuming substances is awesome, and promiscuity is even cooler. This seemingly shallow perspective of life almost gives birth to the philosophy that life is fufilled with the pursuit of pleasure. I am not implying that pleasure is something that should be abstained, but the idea that the purpose of your two legged husk is to be rubbed between the legs as much as possible is a failure of your husks mind. (BTW I wrote this awhile ago... I am not that dedicated...) As you can see, I am a conservative in the field of economics, but you know what? Gays, do as you please... God? Shiva? Allah? Black Hole? Not my place to decide or impose... Anyways I saw this girl from mystery men, (btw I didnt like that movie too much..) but it wasn't until I saw her on the Daily Show that I was impressed with her wit and humor(hot blonde too), and then I saw that Right-wing guy with the links to Sean Hannity and some other fox news faces, he provides no justification or examples how celebrities use mantras as a retort in the field of politics, Celebrities are hardly ever seen on media news making political debates? and this person assured us he will eventually provide evidence... Well, the American 'Right' was obviously correct when it went to war with Iraq in order to stop its potential attacks on America (WMD's?)... It was also right when it tried to capture Osama... It was also right when it decided to help the econemy by reducing the taxes for those who could sustain their life style with higher taxes... The right was also right on their response to a report by the name of "Al Qaeda determined to attack inside the United States"... The right was also correct in allying with pakistan, who was running a nuke supermarket, and was involved in selling nukes to everyone except Iraq! http://www.bushflash.com/lotto.html and the Right was obviously correct in cleaning that black stain in the Florida ballots... http://www.bushflash.com/gta.html So supporting this leader by the name of Bush... You prefer corruption in your business,(Enron), dislike the environment,(duh...) care very little for democracy (florida), prefer war as a means of solving problems,(Iraq) Prefer invading other nations based on a lie,(Iraq) Janeane Garofalo said something like "to support this president is a flaw in character" I think this accurately describes that individual Email me, prove me wrong... kackmonkey@yahoo.co.uk
